Provenance
Galippe (sold De Vries, Amsterdam, 28 March 1923, in lot 515); Dr. Fritz Hausmann; Countess Finckenstein; Miss Yvonne Ffrench, London, 1960; Anthony M. Clark. Previous to 1923 the Galippe album may have been in Britain. It was probably formed in Rome ca. 1780, possibly by the Spanish Agent in Rome, Count J.N. de Azara, and consisted entirely of drawings by Batoni and Raphael Mengs.
