Bowl, 12th-13th century

Unknown artist, expand_more

This small bowl is a striking example of the type of thick, rich opalescent blue with purple splashes that gained popularity at the court of emperor Huizong (r. 1101-1125). The suffused glaze has an exceptional sense of depth and radiant sparkle.
