The 18 etched scenes Picasso made for this portfolio were originally intended to be cut out as postcards and sold individually at the Spanish pavilion of the 1937 Paris World's Fair to benefit the Spanish Refugee Relief Fund.

Portfolio includes prose poem written by Picasso, with translations in French and English.
