The Disappearing: Bees

This is a wide-angle rendering of me sitting on the couch drawing the living room while awaiting results for a COVID Test taken that morning.  The view point is centered on the televisions, but they are off and they reflect a hazy image of myself.  My feet are crossed and resting on the coffee table's edge as I listen to NPR Tiny Desk Concerts with my laptop broadcasting just to my center left.  The drawing was made over 4 hours of stillness with a slightly visible graphite grid with the illustrated qualities of the viewpoint outlined in Lamy Safari Blue Pen ink and highlighted with Opaque White Sakura Gelly Roll Pen ink on a Grey Tone Stillman & Birn 7x10 Nova Series sketchbook page.

Quarantine in Ink - 4 hours on 8/20/2020

A simple line drawing of a rowboat on the water. No passengers or oars, only an empty seat. there is a trail of lightbulbs underwater showing motion by their placement as being pulled behind the boat attached by cords from the inside of the boat to sockets on the bulbs. There are eight of them trailing behind underwater at various lengths of about 12 to 18 feet back and 5 to 8 feet deep. Only the boat has color. The slats of the boat above water and the interior of the boat are colored with spot colors of brown and ochre. Below the water line, the slats of the boat are ultra marine blue and teal. The boat is placed to the left of the page. Although the lightbulbs underwater suggest motion, the boat itself is quite still. The date of Sept 12, 20 is stamped on with a rubber stamp under the water to the right, preceded by the word documented. It is signed on the lower left.

REBIRTH OF OUR WORLD IN 2020

010100000110111011100000111000001111001 is an ink on raw canvas illustration depicting a still life of a poppy flower set on the foreground of the binary-Englilish translation of the word poppy, the most hardy and simultaneouly delicate flower. Flowers represent the renewal of life and connecteion while binary at its core is the most common way that we are relating to life in our current context.
