Highway 1 Obscured

Peace can be found in every corner of our world, if we just reach out. The word мир [mir] in Russian is a noun that can have the meaning both of "peace" and "the world." The title I have chosen for this photograph -- предложение мира [predlozheniye mira] -- could translate to either "An Offering of Peace" or "An Offering for The World."

As the sun sets, the shadow of a sunflower is cast upon an open hand. The picture was made in our front yard. It glows.

Peace

This is a textured photographic portrait of a young red headed child.  She looks directly into the camera with a combination of doubt and confidence.  The photograph is produced using low key lighting. 

Harbour

This black and white photo was taken within the Seattle Public Library on the top floor. It is very geometric and industrial. To the right of the image is a window with a reflection of the far left building. The top of three buildings are in the photo and blend together. A cloud is to the far left outlying the building.

Natural Habitat

This is a photograph of Bonnie View School.  It was along North Dakota Highway 16.  The highway was paved and the change in drainage damaged the building.

Paris at Night. Painted on my son's 6th Birthday. The kids took a bunch of paint and put paint blobs on my canvas, when I wiped it off I saw the outline of an angel. My son at a stroke at 16 months and we were told he might not live to be 2, 3, but if he makes it to 6 he will probably make it. This is a reminder to me that there are Angel's and higher forces watching out for us.

The color theme is muted greys and blues, brown, tan and dark green. A girl on a dirt road facing away from the viewer.  She is in a simple blue cotton dress that is blowing in the wind and she has a strong grounded stance.  Ahead of her, down the dirt road, are multiple severe weather elements.  To the right of the dirt road is a tsunami where the wave is just about to crash down on the edge of the dirt road and onto her.  The wave goes all the way to the sky where the white caps start to build up into large white storm like clouds that cover the middle of the top frame.  The clouds direct your eyes to the left side of the picture where there is lighting and a tornado to the edge of the left side of the road.  The tornado is kicking up dirt and grass, the wind from the tornado is blowing her dress and it is starting to take part of her leg as you her left leg is disintegrating like sand towards to the tornado.  The girl continues stand strong, she is holding a bottle of wine and raggedy Anne doll in her left hand.  In her right hand she is holding a leash that is attached to a blue bird that looks to be her guide or attempting to fly free.
