The Idea

This expressionist clay chalice abstract to ancient chalice form. It's physical base is handbuilt and angular, holding a wheel thrown and altered vessel the size of a wine glass. The white stoneware shows through in places that are not covered with a melted ash glaze over a second glaze that ranges from matt orange to glossy blue. It could be as satisfying in your hand as it is for your eyes.

Untitled

Ceramic ink well type shape, small holes pierce through the top half. Long elegant iron-like scrolls extend up on the left side. Finished with a white washed type terra sigillata.

Wheel-thrown pottery bowl with black, gray and while clay marbled together. Facets are cut in the top two-thirds of the bowl.

A soft alpaca made of red clay standing on 4 long triangular legs and a long triangular neck. the fur texture is made of swirls that have spikes coming out. the animal looks stoic and is embellished with blue, black and green glaze. it looks very enticing to touch.

A porcelain object that shaped like half of a torso of a bird. The surface of the object is covered with sculpted feathers and fingers.

Purple daisies emerge from a dome shaped ceramic vase with a face painted on the surface from the nose up using reds, oranges, yellows, blues, and purples in the skin tones, with green eyes, surrounded by pink hair with short bangs over the forehead.

Clarissa

A small ceramic jar, cylindrical in shape that has a flat top and a smooth transition into four stout legs. In the center of the jar, a glossy black hemisphere caps the opening to the jar. The flat top of the jar has a organic, scored texture and is glazed in a matte gold lustre. The side and feet of the jar are glazed in a matte, mottled green black that sharply contrasts the gold on its top, and the glossy black on its lid.

Earthen Jar

A shiny, smooth, palm sized celadon blue-green ceramic clam object, with a spot of black carbon captured in its glaze, rests upon a small draped mound of seaweed knitted using narrow black linen paper yarn, all poised upon an inverted wood bento box.

A medium salad bowl made from clay and glazed half black, half yellow with an irregular bright green section through the middle.

Bowl

A creamy porcelain bowl with a brown cat face. The cat face has blue eyes and a pink nose. Brown pointed ears extend above the rim of the bowl. In the back, the rim has been cut with a spiral for yarn to create a tail. The bowl sits above the table on four legs brown legs with cat paws.

This vessel is faceted, meaning that clay has been sliced and torn away from the thrown form. What started as a round form is now jagged and angular. The cup utilizes a shino glaze that has a retinue of warm browns, oranges, and whites. The subtle streaks of blacks and greens are visible from the sides come from a wood ash solution.
