When Solace Overwhelmed Us

Where are we going? 

A circular labyrinth of bright and colorful abstract shapes that overlap with one another to create additional colors. These shapes mark the path upon which you will travel as you follow the yellow "lights" along the way. While the path winds around, it is open, transparent, therapeutic, and also energizing. It will lead to a peaceful and positive place. Inspired by the therapy art and art therapy of California-based artist and music composer Jo Verdis.

An abstract painting with a balanced composition made up of elements of a variety of sizes, using a color palette of subtle and soft pastel hues of pink, green, orange, red and black. A dreamlike image of a wonderland, where a green rabbit-like creature enjoys an autumn party where he talks to a monk on a leaf. A fat pink bug lady lights up cherry-like lights. Mr. Green fish swings his arms to dance and dance. Pink semi-transparent jellyfish fly all around the canvas singing and dancing.


The Wonderland

A black and white portrait of my niece on a toned tan paper. Her hair is bold black and her face is pure white with gray value on her face, arm, and no sleeve shirt; and a subtle addition of tan and pink color on her skin.

Using pencil, the drawing shows a dragon, with a regal squared jaw looking up.  The wing on the right is dark, cast in a shadow, with the left wing open revealing a sharp talon on the end.

Moon

This drawing is done on a simple piece of white paper with graphite pencil. It is a play off of a Norman Rockwell piece of a young girl on the run, palette and easel in hand, depicted as a modern day self portrait of the artist.

Colors in Feelings

The image is a side profile portrait of a woman's head and some of her neck. Her eyes are closed, (long lashes touch her face) somewhat enigmatically - it is not clear if she is sad, in thought, or accepting of a situation, or merely striking a pose. her nose is set low, and petite, right above her mouth. She could be in her 30s or 40s. Her face has very few lines, her lips are closed. Her hair is short, ending at her jaw line in a curl. Her hair has texture marking throughout, implying shadow or color and a fine or medium thickness. Part of her neckline is visable. This work is done in graphite on paper. 

Perseverance 

A drawing of a beautiful white swan sitting in the middle of the lake. Peacefully sitting on top of the last piece of ice just before it melts in the Spring. The swan is accompanied by a sea gull at its side. In the water are two ducks, a hooded merganser and a coot, happily floating by in front of the swan.

First Signs of Spring in FaReDo
