Scribed Storied Bowls

This vessel is faceted, meaning that clay has been sliced and torn away from the thrown form. What started as a round form is now jagged and angular. The cup utilizes a shino glaze that has a retinue of warm browns, oranges, and whites. The subtle streaks of blacks and greens are visible from the sides come from a wood ash solution.

Shino Rock Cup

A soft alpaca made of red clay standing on 4 long triangular legs and a long triangular neck. the fur texture is made of swirls that have spikes coming out. the animal looks stoic and is embellished with blue, black and green glaze. it looks very enticing to touch. 

Social Distance 

Ceramic stoneware, wood fired sculpture. The piece resembles a bunny sitting in a relaxed and optimistic position. The back legs stretching out in front of the front, and ears are up high with alert and awareness.

Hitch

A porcelain object that shaped like half of a torso of a bird. The surface of the object is covered with sculpted feathers and fingers. 

Shelter

Sugar bowl with lid, creamer and caddy. Decorative elements include organic sculpted embellishments and turquoise hand-painted, Indian inspired patterns.  Whimsical in nature.

A hand pieced clay bowl in a round shape with the Chino glaze to resemble a flower.

Petal bowl

A loaf of bread made of earthenware clay, packaged in plastic and complete with use by date sticker.  This loaf of bread weighs 13 pounds.

Ceramic ink well type shape, small holes pierce through the top half. Long elegant iron-like scrolls extend up on the left side. Finished with a white washed type terra sigillata.

A shiny, smooth, palm sized celadon blue-green ceramic clam object, with a spot of black carbon captured in its glaze, rests upon a small draped mound of seaweed knitted using narrow black linen paper yarn, all poised upon an inverted wood bento box.

Irregularly shaped stoneware vase with two spiral handles.  Textured, brightly colored surface evoking undersea, sea, sky and sun.

A ceramic vase with a stubby body and fat neck, the lower half is a dark grey glassy clay body and the top has a natural brown ash glaze with a drip down the center.

Into the Garden: compassion

Continuous Maze Pattern: This object is a slipcast ceramic egg with a wax-resist design written in beeswax using a traditional Kistka tool for making Pysanky eggs. The patterns employed are maze, labyrinth and weaving designs meant to be contemplated as visual metaphors for the complexity we see before us now and finding a path to the other side.

Wabi Sabi Ikebana Vases

A sgraffito style white clay bow with a black inner surface. Vertical dragonflies adorn the outside of the bowl with colorful wings in blue and green and purple and red.

Dragonfly Bowl

Swirled and detailed patterns of peach and gray tones create images that encourage imaginative interpretaion such as images of a cloud burst. These patterns reflect the random interactions of the minerals, smoke, and heat which occur in the  pit firing process.
