This canvas was first painted gold and after letting it dry, I squeezed out red acrylic in a gestural manor. I think I achieved a cool composition with little re-work. I love the raised texture of red lines and blobs on gold.

In the bottom left of the painting, a white moon emerges from a light blue sky. In the top right, a yellow sun floats in a deep purple sky. The areas of the sun and moon are separated by thick white brush strokes that run from the top left to the bottom right. All of the paint strokes in the painting are thick and confident. The texture is pronounced. A border is painted along all four edges of the canvas in black.

On an early morning walk along the Wind River in Dubois, WY, the full moon was setting as the sun was rising. At this location, sandy barren hills come down to one side of the river, while cottonwoods and willows thrive on the opposite bank.
