Miniature Hand-thrown Pottery

This expressionist clay chalice abstract to ancient chalice form. It's physical base is handbuilt and angular, holding a wheel thrown and altered vessel the size of a wine glass. The white stoneware shows through in places that are not covered with a melted ash glaze over a second glaze that ranges from matt orange to glossy blue. It could be as satisfying in your hand as it is for your eyes.

Dolly Box

Ceramic stoneware, wood fired sculpture. The piece resembles a bunny sitting in a relaxed and optimistic position. The back legs stretching out in front of the front, and ears are up high with alert and awareness.

Clarissa

The piece is a thrown and altered ceramic vase. There's a wide thin horizontal lip similar to a hat rim. Below the rim is a broad shoulder that narrows down to the base and foot of the vase. On the front body there is an asymmetrical cross where the vase was hit which bi-secs the body and includes and folds down the rim in the front. This adds some unique interest points.

A pink baby head with elephant pacifier sits on top of a toy-like and wheeled base.  An extra large pacifier becomes the handle for the pull-string.

Dancers

Swirled and detailed patterns of peach and gray tones create images that encourage imaginative interpretaion such as images of a cloud burst. These patterns reflect the random interactions of the minerals, smoke, and heat which occur in the  pit firing process.

Dark, gestural hand thrown bottle that was fired with wood in an anagama style kiln. This bottle is naturally glazed with melted wood ash.

BIANCA METAL RAT/Year of the Metal Rat 1/25/20

A small ceramic jar, cylindrical in shape that has a flat top and a smooth transition into four stout legs. In the center of the jar, a glossy black hemisphere caps the opening to the jar. The flat top of the jar has a organic, scored texture and is glazed in a matte gold lustre. The side and feet of the jar are glazed in a matte, mottled green black that sharply contrasts the gold on its top, and the glossy black on its lid.

Wheel thrown and altered set of nested buckets. Green glaze with salmon & orange tones from the soda ash atmosphere the vessels were fired in. 

Sisakkain

A sculpture of a turkey dinner on a 1.25 inch ceramic plate. The turkey slices, mashed potatoes and gravy, cranberries, stuffing, and green beans are sculpted with a combination of polymer clay, liquid clay, and resin. Additional shading was added with soft pastels and watered down acrylics.

The Idea

A non-objective ceramic form rendering the artists perception of a human relation. Two glossy green arches opposing each other in direction and size sit on top of a matte pink bumpy base. The color and form play at duality.
