Start The Day

A former Big Mouth Billy Bass is transformed into a 3-dimensional false wooden plaque with wood grain made of actual grains (quinoa) and a mounted crappie fish, also made of crops in the distinctive black and yellow pattern of a crappie fish (corn, wild rice, canola, and other seeds and grains). Former bass fins have been replaced with crappie shaped fins. The plaque has an identifying sign just under the fish that is a pun: Croppie. This piece won a blue ribbon at the 2019 Minnesota State Fair in the Seed and Plant Craft Objects category of the Crop Art competition.

Blue Skies

A one-eighth-scale diorama of a carpeted living room. A miniature floor lamp lights the interior and a miniature tv displays an image of the COVID-19 virus. There is a window covered with colorful paper hearts taped to the glass.

This is what we have done

The Chinese text: End of WWII, Sept 9, 1945 Hong Kong,  which was occupied by Japan for four years. Solo picture was artist who was nourished with eggs from chickens raised on rooftops while many had very restricted diet.  Sausages were stuffed with horse or dog meat.

Queen of the Dream Cave

An mosaic image of a bee created with seeds and grains in the center of a canvas board. It is natural colored with black, cream, and tan tones. The corners of the piece feature a honey comb motif. 

A pair of silver earrings which consists of a textured metal, a soldered bezel, and a peridot CZ stone.  It is given a patina finish to highlight the circular background texture.  The ear wires are hand made from argentium silver.

Thomas

Cute marionette made from vintage garden faucet handles, paper and ribbons. Shown in a black box stage, with curtains and valance. Clown is juggling alphabet letters.  Lots of other circus related accents. Colors in red, green, black and white with hints of yellow and blue. 

 Bring in the clown

This is a beaded replica of Georgia O'Keefe's Oriental Poppies oil painting (1927), the property of our own Twin Cities Weisman Art Museum. The beads are quite small, size 11/0, very shiny/textural and glow like the original painting.
