This is a collage was from a series on that began with carefully dried daisy petals, which were tricky to work with and glue down onto the Color-aid paper. The background is a an Epson archival inkjet printed digital pattern drawn in Adobe Illustrator. A postage stamp and other papers were chosen to complement the color palette and content, and the text (species name) was typewritten on Rives BFK paper.  

Ox-eye Daisy

A 3-Dimensional wire used to make a contour face is resting upon a rough texture of faded whites and purple cotton fabric. The  silver wire creates a unique shadow of the face beneath it depending on the angle of the light. The wire face lies oblique on the canvas looking right at the viewer.

Space Case Friend

A frame made of cardboard and knick knacks painted black with an icon-like image of my late grandmother in the center mounted on velvet and haloed in gold just below the locket she gave me draped over the shrine's frame.

Healing Shrine

A small rectangular abstract painting with a dark grey and white speckled rubber surface. There's a piece of canvas painted yellow and black with a scratched-in grid pattern attached at top half of the painting. At the top of the piece of canvas are three lumps of light grey plaster. A small fragment of light grey flooring from the artist's studio is attached to the bottom left corner of the painting. The perimeter of the painting is marked with silver and black paint. There are several thin, short plastic hairs jutting out from the top, left, and bottom sides of the painting.

Play Surface

In the center of the canvas board text is written "I Love U My Lil Lady Grams Nay Miss's U... I Do..." The O in Love is shaped like a heart. The background is lightly shaded pink with bubble hearts floating. The text is bordered with flowers on a vine. The canvas board is bordered along the top and bottom with rhinestone ribbon.

Alone in the Past

Birch Tree with colorful, fall leaves made from craft beer cans. Some leaves are tumbling to the rocky ground.

Brewing Up Autumn

Color lines divide 57 small raised figures of various colors, white, blue, orange and 43 of them dark against a black ground shaded with pastel chalk. 3 light circular shapes and a number of small squares fill in some of the areas.  A strong fat yellow line curves from top to bottom across several horizontal fat orange lines separating groups of figures with no apparent logic.  The lines at first appear very definite but looking closer they appear very rough and porous.  This art represents my thoughts about my ancestors, the homes they left and the journeys they took.

Across The Line

This carved book sculpture, "biblio-excavation", is created by removing all the excess text leaving only selected imagery. Images are backed with acid free cardstock to make them more ridged. The text block is sealed shut so only the cover opens. This creates both an easy way to display the sculpture as well as a simple storage solution since the work can be shut and housed with the rest of your readable library.

This is a black-and-white photocopy of an image of the Mona Lisa by Leonardo da Vinci, with text written in the margins.

Explanation

The image is based on a photograph of my elderly mother.  I've added a textural background with collaged paper and floral fabric elements to the square artwork.  

Mumsy

Small bright, red shards of glass are meticulously spaced and arranged around a square-shaped area golden shards of glass, closely clumped up next to each other.

Chaotic Beauty

An encaustic painting of a desert background with a photo of a zebra printed on tissue paper and embedded into the encaustic wax medium. Sienna pigmented wax dots were added in vertical columns and horizontal rows to add texture to the piece and highlight the zebra.
