Open My Heart

Midwest 1

A mixed media assembled collage of half circles, cropped sections of circles, rectangles that are made up of a designs inspired by mold growing on coffee and white negative space between those forms. A mixture of abstract mold design in geometric shapes filling up the square white background.

Midnite Mine

This is a collage was from a series on that began with carefully dried daisy petals, which were tricky to work with and glue down onto the Color-aid paper. The background is a an Epson archival inkjet printed digital pattern drawn in Adobe Illustrator. A postage stamp and other papers were chosen to complement the color palette and content, and the text (species name) was typewritten on Rives BFK paper.

A whimsically dark collage of a Cecropia Moth, beatles, billy bobs, thistles, and carnations. Inspired by the short beautiful life of a cecropia moth. 

The night of the Cecropia Moth 

An encaustic painting of a desert background with a photo of a zebra printed on tissue paper and embedded into the encaustic wax medium. Sienna pigmented wax dots were added in vertical columns and horizontal rows to add texture to the piece and highlight the zebra.

Color of Water: Under the Sea has vibrant colors and shapes resembling the idea of a coral reef; stitching and beads enhance the movement of the brush strokes and shapes.

Another Day on the Info Transit

Cancelled Abstraction

Envision shapes that include, rectangles, squares and circles. Now, envision them coming all together in a tight square. Feel the heat of Morocco, dry and strong. Sense you are on a corner of a busy city street. Sound is coming from all directions, people are rushing by you, talking, laughing, screams of sirens. You might feel a little tense or excited. This vision of your street corner is placed on a soft pink background,a gentle arm around your shoulder.

Starlet

A mixed media work with heavily textured stylized flames, smoke, ash and embers painted in the foreground and covering most of the page. Peeking through the flames are various decoupaged words cut from magazines. Each word encased in a small "window" with blue, plum and teal background. The flames are devouring all the inspriational and positive words like "calm, confident & focus"; leaving only "lost, stress & adversity."
