Like cricket culture, bird training has a long history in China. Scholarly connoisseurship included a variety of games and pastimes based upon the cultivation of birds. To enhance the beauty of a pigeon's flight with sound, scholars attached special whistles to their tails. This rare pair of whistles is signed, Yung, father and son.
