Ten Doors, 1972

Not on Viewexpand_more

Estes's photorealist screenprint depicts one of the public entrances to the Minneapolis Auditorium, which was razed in the late 1980s to make room for the present downtown convention center. The noticeable absence of figures and Estes's use of transparency and reflections distorts the otherwise ordinary image into a surreal or hyper-realistic urban street scene.
