In 1874, the Kentucky state legislature purchased a bust of Henry Clay for the state capitol in Frankfurt. The original white marble bust was made by Joel Tanner Hart and has been copied since by other sculptors using different materials, including zinc, which was popular during the late-nineteenth and early-twentieth centuries.
