101st design by Kōkei. Actor Ichikawa Danshirō IV (b. 1946) as Tonbei 頓兵衛 in the play "Miracle at the Yaguchi Ferry" (Shinrei Yaguchi no watashi 神霊矢口渡), performed at the Kabuki Theater in December of 1987. Tonbei is the ferryman at Yaguchi working for the warlord Ashikaga Takauji in killing his enemies. Stabbing through the ceiling with his sword during a search for an enemy in the night, he accidentally fatally wounds his own daughter.
