Cotton, synthetic and rayon; embroideredexpand_more
Gift of Richard Simmons in memory of Roberta Grodberg Simmonsexpand_more 94.106.6
Pants of this cut are worn by men in many parts of Guatemala and were inspired by contact with Europeans. The embroidered pattern is typical of the designs used in Santiago Atitlán. A belt (banda), such as example #5 in the case, would be wrapped around the top and securely tied to hold the pants in place.
