This collaborative painting is a remarkable Who's Who among artists of the Maruyama-Shijo School in the late eighteenth century. Each artist has supplied a self-portrait in the guise of a Chinese scholar. Together, they are shown admiring antique objects and paintings, reflecting their romantic concept of the lives of Chinese officials.
