The earliest glazes developed at Sawankalok are thin brown glazes which flake easily and stand in contrast to the slightly later thick chocolate brown glazes of which this bottle is a fine example. Such vessels were usually decorated on their shoulders with incised horizontal wheel-cut grooves.
