This cup and cover is decorated with scenes from the Life of Joseph (Genesis 41-44). Pierre Reymond adapted the compositions from woodcuts by Bernard Salomon that illustrated the bible accompanied by Claude Paradin's book of verse, Quadrins historiques de la Bible, published in France in the 1550s.
