Short concubine coat of ivory satin brocaded in rose, yellow, green, shades of blue and gold. In front, on each side of opening, two rampant five-clawed, gold dragons grasping heavenly jewel. In back, one very large sitting dragon of same general type as in 48.2.1,2,3. Background of loose cloud pattern. Border of rolling waves in shades of green, blue and ivory in overlapping half-moon shapes four on each side of mountain motif. In the waves appear symbols of the eight precious things. Note small embroidered areas(restorations?) in cloud back of right armhole and dragon motif on back. Coat opens up front to round neck with narrow band of modern black and gold brocade. Same brocade borders armholes, which may have been filled in with modern sleeves of brown monotone brocade finished with blue satin cuffs, embroidered in gold. Lining of lime green figured silk.
