Coat with solid needlepoint ground of all-over lozenge and swastika design in pale shades of pink, grey, tan, green and peach. In lower area appear dragons and chilin; in the upper area and on sleeves appear elephants, and between are phoenix. The long-life characters in the field, as well as the blankets of the elephants,are embroidered in peacock feathers. Cuffs, collar, and edged are bordered with gold and black brocade. Standing collar of the needlepoint. Lining of soft blue satin damask with large floral pattern. Note Mrs. Harris says this robe is reputed to have been worn by the Empress while bearing a child as all the symbols are thought to bring good luck.
