This may look like an old print of the Virgin and Child, but it’s a painting meant to fool you slightly. We might do a double take thinking it’s an old print stuck on a wall and slightly curling at the edges. English uses a borrowed French term for this type of picture: "Trompe l’oeil"—literally, trick the eye.
