Georges d’Espagnat was a self-trained artist who worked in a variety of styles from Impressionism to Fauvism. He was a protégé of Pierre Auguste Renoir and exhibited regularly with the major artists of the period, including Pierre Bonnard and Henri Matisse. In later life he was a Professor at the Ecole Nationale Superieure des Beaux-Arts in Paris.
